1/8/2012

I awoke feeling well, legs only a little sore and stiff. Hip flexors and right foot were most noticeable but I'd already planned an afternoon run at Bond Brook! AND Luette was going to come run with me. Too delightful to back out of.

We took it way easy due to wanting to take it easy, plus there was just a tiny bit of snow over everything and the going was pretty slick. We both did some impressive falling but fortunately nothing too damaging. We ran the red blaze loop-of-varied-ending anticlockwise for a while, and then with some minor faux-bushwhacking, I managed to lead her up to the nifty little gnome quarry where we paused so she could chuck boulders at the beauty of nature.

We discussed whether it's okay to run with a chalkbag for emergency bouldering situations, good band names (Ocelot Quandary, Unladylike Velocity), and how to tell which shrubbery is acceptable for parkouring into. We may or may not have discussed ambivalence. We also discussed politics, dumb graduation speeches, and, on the Hill of Doom, of course we verbally explored alternative uses for kale. Works every time.

We take our serious ultrarunning Very Seriously. I think we laughed almost the whole time.

~4.5 miles
